Skiing in Georgia

Because of its mountainous terrain Georgia is a perfect destination for skiing and snow-boarding. It has four skiing resorts: Gudauri, Bakuriani, Mestia and Goderdzi Pass. Resorts are located in different areas of Georgia and offer diverse opportunities. Goderdzi Pass ski resort is still being developed, while the other three are well-developed.

Rafting in Georgia

White-water rafting is available on several rivers of Georgia. The most popular is Aragvi River. The rafting season starts from May and the route is II-III category. The route distance is 13-14km, both on Pshavi and Mtiuleti Aragvi Rivers. From June the rivers become shallower and rafting becomes easier, but it’s still very pleasant to enjoy the activity in the heat of summer.

Climbing

Great Caucasus Mountains in Georgia have many summits over 5000m. The most famous for climbing is Mt. Kazbeg, located in Stephantsminda. It’s relatively easy to climb the summit up that’s why it’s popular among the adventure seekers. You can overnight in a meteorological station/hut at around 4000m and the next morning conquer the summit.

Riding the bikes

Georgia is a great destination for both – mountain and cross-country bike tours. Good mountain bikes are rather difficult to rent here, so it’s better to travel with your own bicycle. For the cross country the rental is relatively easy. On both tours you can travel to beautiful provinces of Georgia and explore it in depth and the same time enjoy your active holidays.

Riding the horses

Travel to remote areas of Georgia and explore its pristine mountains, deserted villages and flower-full meadows from a horse-back. You can ride in different provinces of Georgia. There’re options of doing day rides as well as taking a continuous ride from one village to another. Horses in Georgia are of local mountain breed and well-adjusted to local steep terrain.

Trekking in Georgia

Surrounded by Caucasus Mountains from North and South Georgia is a perfect destination for trekking. You can enjoy easy hikes, moderate walks & challenging treks over the passes over 3000m. Best period for trekking is June-September, but you can enjoy some early walks in May and beautiful walks in Svaneti area in October to enjoy the beauty of autumn-colored Georgia.
